Dude, I Totally Went to the Skywalker Ranch Today

That's right, I spent today at one of the greatest temples in all of geekdom. I got to see Luke Skywalker's lightsaber. Wander the grounds. Perused the film library. Checked out the extensive collection of vintage movie posters. Had a delicious lunch. Wandered through the private movie theatre. Got to quickly sneak into one of the sound studios. Went insane purchasing swag at the company store.

It was just heavenly. Really.

Many thanks to Geoff Butterfield for the invitation to visit the ranch and the lovely tour. And many thanks to Cat Allman for introducing me to Geoff in the first place.

If you haven't ever taken a look at the great work done by the George Lucas Educational Foundation, hop on over to their website and check it out. Their magazine, Edutopia, is one of the only magazines out there that focuses on the educational space.

Article in Open Source Business Resource

I recently penned an article for the journal Open Source Business Resource on the Summer of Code model. I'd love for folks to check it out and let me know what they think. The full article is linked at the bottom of the abstract. Many thanks to Dru Lavigne for giving me the opportunity to submit the piece.

And in other news, the Ubuntu Developer Summit is in full swing, following a delightful FOSSCamp this past weekend. It's great to have the Ubuntu folks back again. It has been far too long since I've seen most of them.

And the rumors I've heard about the close of conference festivities are incredibly exciting. I won't spoil the surprise for anyone who may be attending, but think Bacon, Castro and close harmony singing. Or something along those lines.
